Bead Insulation for Cavity Walls

EPS bead insulation is an innovative cavity wall insulation option that provides high levels of thermal insulation and heat conservation.

What is EPS Bead Insulation?

EPS Beading insulation is one of the most advanced, efficient and cost-saving cavity wall insulation products available today. It involves injecting beads into the cavity of your wall.

The materials that make up EPS beads ensure durability, and can last the entire lifespan of the property. There is no need to install cavity boards in order to fit EPS bead insulation, as more traditional cavity wall insulation products require.

As a result, this advanced type of cavity wall insulation can save homeowners money, as well as allowing for other home improvements, too.

The Benefits of EPS Beads

From saving money on your monthly energy bills, to reducing your carbon impact, cavity wall insulation brings about valuable benefits for your home.

Cost Effective

EPS bead insulation is cheaper to install than traditional cavity wall insulation types. But it’s not just installation and material costs you’ll save on with EPS bead insulation. Due to its thermal benefits, you’ll be able to better control the temperature of your house more effectively, resulting in lower energy bills each month.

Efficient

With EPS bead insulation, there’s no need to install storage or fitting boards. Not only will the increased space make your home look neater, but will mean the project is completed quicker, too. EPS bead insulation requires less holes to be drilled into the face of your home in order to reach your cavity, compared to traditional fibre insulation.

Effective

EPS beading fills cavity walls with a consistent density. Meaning there are no cold spots or settlement issues, due to the innovative technology of EPS beads. Therefore, you can regulate the temperature of your home more effectively and save on energy bills.

Low Build Cost

Unlike other forms of cavity wall insulation, EPS beading only requires small holes to be drilled into the walls in order to be installed. Plus, there’s no need to fill gable peaks either, and this alone can save up to 15% on materials.
The reduction in materials, and ease of installation, allows for lower overheads when installing EPS beading – savings we’re able to pass onto you!

Low U-Value

Bead insulation for cavity walls can improve the U-Value of the room by up to 70%. This is 20% more effective than the standard fibre insulation. This means that air transfers through the EPS Bead insulation slower, helping it to perform better than this more traditional type of insulation.

Moisture Control

EPS beads don't contain typical absorption properties that you would find with other types of cavity wall insulation, such as blown fibre. This prevents the growth of mould and moisture – keeping our house safe and your interior clean.

Durable & Long-Lasting

EPS beads have incredible durability. They don’t crack or settle, and are both rot proof and water-resistant. This makes EPS bead insulation a reliable choice. Older fibreglass insulation holds water, which limits its effectiveness as cavity wall insulation.

How is EPS Beading Installed?

EPS beading is a form of cavity wall insulation. This means that it fills the small area between the two layers of bricks. This innovative type of insulation is incredibly easy to install.

Our experts will simply drill small holes in the wall, and then feed the EPS beads through until the cavity is filled. The small holes can then easily be filled back up and painted over.

The low installation and material costs, combined with its durability, is just one of the many reasons why our experts recommend using EPS beads for your cavity walls.

FAQs

  • Is EPS beading a good idea for cavity wall insulation?

    Arrow
  • Cavity wall insulation is a good idea, the choice of insulant is up to you. EPS bead insulation for cavity walls has many benefits and our team are happy to talk to you about all your options, including EPS beads, spray foam, and blown fibre insulation.

  • What if I already have insulation?

    Arrow
  • If you already have old cavity wall insulation but feel it isn’t up to scratch – then extraction could be an option for you. The process is as simple as installing the insulation itself and can also be used to remove any rubble or debris. After this, your new insulation for your cavity walls is ready to be installed. For more information on this, check out our page on cavity wall extraction.

  • Will the EPS beads leak from the wall?

    Arrow
  • The EPS beads are coated with a layer of adhesive upon installation, meaning that they stick to each other and won’t come out of your walls should you nail or screw into them. Previously, EPS beads were not coated with this adhesive layer – making this a real possibility. Luckily, technology has improved greatly since then.

  • I live in a semi-detached or terraced property; will the insulation go into my neighbours’ cavities?

    Arrow
  • At Eco Spray-Foam systems, we’re very aware of this risk so our installation teams will install barriers (known to us as ‘brushes’) at the property line to stop the insulation from moving into your neighbour’s cavity walls. This helps keep all your insulation protecting your home.
